For larger, fixed installations, before any processing of spent activated carbon can be undertaken, management must be undertaken of the safe removal of the product from the treatment vessels, in which it has been exposed to the fluid or gas that has been treated. Jacobi Services in-house teams can provide the know-how and labour to undertake this delicate and sensitive procedure for our clients.

Once the adsorption system has been deemed to require a change of activated carbon (or other media such as ion exchange resins, such as Jacobi’s own ResinexTM brand, sand, anthracite etc.), decommissioned and is isolated from the process, the process of media removal can begin. Depending on the nature of the process, the carbon can be extracted either as a slurry to a specialised bulk transport vehicle, or pneumatically to IBC’s, both for removal from site.

Jacobi Carbons site services teams based in France, Germany and the United Kingdom, have been conducting this service for operators of a variety of activated carbon systems. Hover the images below to see some of the international markets we serve.

Replacement of the activated carbon, whether as a reactivated material or virgin product, can similarly be done in a variety of methods to suit the location of the adsorption equipment, or site preference or facilities available. Drinking water products are generally returned as a slurry to either rapid gravity filters or pressure vessels. Vapour phase vessels are normally filled dry from either sacks or bulk bags; but in certain cases, a slurry technique or vacuum filling can be offered where suitable.

Team members hold valid and international accreditation for on site working including, confined space entry; use of breathing apparatus; working at heights; working over water; manpower recovery; safe handling; water industry certification schemes and petrochemical plant zoned area requirements. With more than 20 years experience in each team Jacobi Services can provide the most efficient and safe method to effect activated carbon.
