In zijn eenvoudigste vorm is formaldehyde een gas. Het is huidirriterend en vertoont een doordringende geur, zelfs bij concentraties van minder dan 1 ppm. De geurdrempel ligt tussen 0,5-1,0 ppm. Formaldehyde dampen zijn ook ontvlambaar en explosief.<\/p><p>Natuurlijk voorkomende formaldehyde wordt in voedsel (vooral in fruit) op zeer lage niveaus gevonden, wordt ook gecre\u00eberd door de verbranding van tabak (roken) en komt voor in de menselijke stofwisseling, waar het via enzymkatalyse wordt afgebroken tot kooldioxide en formiaat, en wordt verwijderd door respectievelijk uitademing en urineren.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5fbd77cd e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"5fbd77cd\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6214336e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6214336e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Het industri\u00eble gebruik van formaldehyde<\/h3><p>Er zijn veel industri\u00eble toepassingen voor formaldehyde, namelijk bij de synthese van inkten, als harsbindmiddel bij de vervaardiging van meubels (multiplex, composietpanelen) en meubels (tapijten), en als conserveermiddel bij de chemische synthese binnen de farmaceutische productie (vaccins) en de chemische industrie (cosmetica, shampoos, deodorants en zepen).<\/p><p>Het meest erkende gebruik van formaldehyde is het behoud van laboratoriumspecimens en het balsemen in mortuaria.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-43e8a637 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"43e8a637\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3a1bbea2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3a1bbea2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Formaldehyde in het milieu en de gevolgen daarvan voor de gezondheid van de mens<\/h3><p>De invloed op het milieu is beperkt, aangezien formaldehyde in de atmosfeer snel wordt afgebroken door reacties met andere stoffen of in de bodem door bacteri\u00ebn. De risico\u2019s voor de mens zijn veel groter omdat formaldehyde gemakkelijk door de huid en de luchtwegen wordt opgenomen.
