Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large family of thousands of synthetic chemicals widely used in society and found in the environment. All PFAS are highly persistent in the environment; far longer than any other man-made substances.
Certain PFAS are known to accumulate in humans and other species and cause toxic effects. Mobile adsorbers filled with activated carbon are used to remove PFAS from groundwater and drinking water.
Jacobi Services provides AquaFlow™ V20 H mobile adsorbers and AquaSorb™ to remove PFAS from groundwater and drinking water.
AVLÄGSNANDE AV PFOS – PFAS: MOBILA FILTER
The AquaFlow™ V20 H mobile adsorber is specially developed and built for the treatment of water and process liquids. This mobile adsorption unit is a combined transport vessel and adsorption system. It is delivered prefilled with the selected adsorbent media to ensure cost effective removal of contaminants at the drinking water treatment plant.
The mobile adsorber AquaFlow™ V20 H is supplied with all necessary piping and can be provided with standard quick release couplings for easy and rapid installation. The AquaFlow™ V20 H can be used as a single filter, in parallel, or in series configuration, depending on the specific requirements of the customer’s application.
When the filter media is exhausted, or treatment objective is reached, the mobile adsorption unit AquaFlow™ V20 H is taken off-line, and the entire unit is removed from site. If further treatment is required, it is replaced with another filter. This eliminates the need for onsite spent carbon handling and minimises the transport cost incurred.
For the French market, we have developed the AquaFlow™ V20 H DW, a mobile adsorber type which are specially designed and constructed in conformance with the ACS (Attestation de Conformité Sanitaire) standard for drinking water treatment in France.

Auxiliary equipment and additional services
In addition to mobile filters and different media, Jacobi Services also offers various items of auxiliary equipment and additional services for drinking water applications, including:
- Initial application evaluation based on historical data, properties of the impurities that need to be removed and mathematical models.
- Fixed insulation with electrical heat tracing for large mobile filters to prevent freezing and frost damage.
- Jacobi Services offers pH neutralisation services in some service centres, to limit pH excursions at the initial backwash operation to reduce the volume of effluent and allow a fast start-up of the AquaFlow™ mobile filters.
Recycling, Energy Recovery or Disposal Services
The Jacobi group has a large reactivation capacity for spent carbon from drinking water applications in two different regions. In the northeast of Germany, we have a reactivation centre in Premnitz, and another south of Paris, France, in Vierzon.
Spent activated carbon from drinking water applications are reactivated in a closed loop reactivation returning a client’s own material.

The AquaSorb™ range of products are specialised activated carbons designed for a wide range of water treatment duties. Products in this range are compliant with international standards, including NSF, EN and AWWA. This ensures a high standard of performance in potable water applications.
The ReSorb™ product range includes reactivated granular and extruded carbon for liquid and gaseous stream treatment. ReSorb™ Solo is a closed loop reactivation, particularly for drinking water, food, and beverage applications, returning a client’s own material.

Resinex™ PFCR-2 is a food grade, high purity, premium grade, strongly basic gel-type anion exchange resin, specially developed for selective perfluorinated compound removal from potable water in presence of high levels of sulphate. Resinex™ PFCR-2 offers a superior operating capacity and an excellent selectivity to PFOA and PFOS compounds for economical treatment in co-flow and counter-flow systems. Resinex™ PFCR-2 is implemented where the removal of monovalent ions is necessary. Resinex™ PFCR-2 is also suitable for nitrate removal applications. This resin is suggested to be implemented as a one-time use application and not suggested to be regenerated.
